The Camargue Horses I and II Diptych

from $50.00

WILD AND FREE | SAUVAGE ET LIBRE

Horses have always captured my imagination. Decades ago, when I photographed my first rodeo, I was hooked for life. I can lose myself for hours simply watching these magnificent creatures move.

These images are from my time among the semi-feral horses of the Camargue in France, alongside the Gardians—the Camargue “cowboys” who guide them through the marshlands they call home.

As I write this now, I glance out my window at a corral holding more than thirty horses. Yet my favorite way to see them will always be as they were meant to be — wild and free.

Perhaps it’s my own wanderlust speaking, but there’s something magical about giving them the space to roam, unbound by ropes or reins, untethered from the pull of reality.
